Spring '26 Ladies' Event Session Options:
1. IDEXX - Led by Steve Stephenson
This hands-on session will feature the OnFarm Pregnancy and BVDV SNAP Antigen tests. and its role in heard health and biosecurity. Participants will also learn how to properly complete a tail-head blood draw, gaining practical skills they can implement immediately on their own operations. This session equips producers with real-time diagnostic tools to improve reproductive management and herd health decisions.
2. Ultrasound Machine Operation - Led by Brad & Gara Webb, Webb Cattle Company
Hands-on instruction covering the fundamentals of ultrasound use in cattle operations. Participants will learn proper technique, equipment handling and how ultrasound technology enhances reproductive management and herd planning.
3. Reproductive Efficiency - Semen Testing with Dr. Mindy
This hands-on reproductive session will include live semen evaluation, allowing participants to observe bull semen under the microscope and better understand motility, morphology, and overall fertility indicators. Dr. Mindy will walk through proper collection handling, what defines a satisfactory breeder and how semen quality directly impacts herd reproductive success.
4. Precision Cattle Movement - Led by Donnie & Cathy Brown, Oklahoma Miniature Lovable Livestock
Lean low-stress livestock handling techniques that improve safety, efficiency and cattle performance. This session focuses on reading cattle behavior and implementing practical movement strategies that work in real-world operations.
5. Chute Operation - Led by Craig & Tammy Dicus, 2/D Ranch
This hands-on session will provide participants the opportunity to run cattle through a manual chute and operate a hydraulic chute. Attendees will learn safe cattle flow, positioning and operator efficiency while gaining confidence in practical operation. This focus is on safety, animal welfare, and creating a smooth, effective working environment for both livestock and handlers.
6. Agritourism Panel & Workshops - Led by Arielle Honovich, Ridge Ranch and Julie Bowen, The Bowen Farm & Cowgirl Confident Events
Panelists: Arielle Honovich, Tara Bauersfeld (Hidden Hills Farm NJ), Amy Garrett (Iron Rock Farm) and Aleah Chilleen (The Venue at Chilleen's), Moderated by Julie Bowen.
An interactive discussion featuring successful agritourism operators sharing real-world insights on branding, pricing, risk management, and creating profitable farm experiences. Includes workshop-style sessions for actionable implementation.
7. Administering Vaccines - Led by Reba Palmer (OSU Ext. Ottawa County), Dr. Cameon Ohmes and Dr. SuLynn Mester (Cupcake Cattle Company)
This hands-on training session will utilize our vaccination simulators to teach proper vaccine handling, needle placement and injection technique. Participants will practice both intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SubQ) administration methods, along with correct site selection and storage protocols.
8. Ask the Vet with Dr. Blalock - Led by Dr. Blalock, Fairland Veterinary Hospital
Moderated by Kim Clayton, Clayton Corner Farm & Cowgirl Confident Events. A moderated and open Q&A session allowing participants to bring real-world challenges and questions directly to a trusted veterinarian. A valuable opportunity for practical problem-solving and professional guidance.
9. Calf Nutrition, The Madigan Squeeze & Trusti Tuber - Led by SuLynn Mester & Laura Bratton, Cupcake Cattle Company
Focused on newborn calf management, this session covers nutritional support, early intervention tools, and hands-on demonstrations of the Madigan Squeeze and Trusti Tuber techniques for compromised calves.
10. Welding - Held at NE Tech, Led by Corey Winesburg
A hands-on skills session introducing practical welding applications used in livestock and farm operations. Participants will gain fundamental knowledge applicable to gates, equipment repairs and ranch infrastructure.
