Securing & Strapping Down a Trailer Load
Learn how properly secure a trailer load for safer transport on the road. This hands-on session will cover tie-down placement, choosing and using straps correctly, maintaining proper tension, checking load stability and common mistakes to avoid when securing equipment, hay, supplies and other farm or ranch loads.

IDEXX Testing & Blood Draws
Get hands-on experience collecting blood samples using both a tail-head simulator and live cattle. This session will cover proper tail-head blood-draw technique, sample collection and handling, and how IDEXX diagnostic testing can be used on the farm. Participants will also learn about IDEXX OnFarm Pregnancy Testing and BVDV testing and how these tools can support timely herd-health and reproductive management decisions.

Build confidence with common cattle injection and IV techniques using realistic bovine injection simulators. Halter Cow Collars: Smarter Herd Management
Discover how Halter’s virtual fencing and herd management technology can create new opportunities for cattle operations. A representative from Halter will introduce the cow collar system, explain how the technology works and explore ways producers can use it to manage cattle movement, grazing, labor and day-to-day herd decisions.
Because Halter requires a minimum order of 100 collars, participating farms will also have the opportunity to explore joining together to meet the minimum order requirement, if needed. This session offers a unique opportunity to learn about the technology, ask questions directly and determine whether collaborative purchase could make Halter a practical option for your operation.

Transporting Cattle: Shrink, Health & Biosecurity
Learn practical considerations when transporting cattle safely while protecting animal health and avoiding shrink. This session will cover factors that contribute to transportation shrink, biosecurity and disease prevention, trailer preparation and sanitation, time spent on the trailer, weather considerations, stocking and handling practices and what to watch for before, during and after transport. Participants will leave with practical strategies for reducing stress, limiting unnessary shrink and protecting cattle health throughout the transportation process.

Case Study Panel: Building a Better Cattle Operation
Work through real-world cattle operation scenarios with a multidisciplinary panel of experts. A veterinarian, nutritionist, forage specialist, genetecist and agricultrual economist will examine each case from thier area of expertise, demonstrating how animal health, nutrition, forage resources, genetics and economics work together when making management decisions. Participants will hear different perspectives, ask questions and see how seemingly small decisions in one area can affect the performance and profitability of the entire operation.

Nutritional Needs Throughout Gestation
Explore how a cow’s nutritional needs change throughout pregnancy and why meeting those needs at the right time matters for both cow and calf. This session will cover nutritional considerations during early, mid-, and late gestation, including changes in energy and protein requirements, body condition, forage quality, supplementation, and preparation for calving and lactation. Participants will gain practical insight into adjusting their nutrition program throughout gestation to support reproductive performance, calf development and overall herd health.
