Answers to common questions about registration, travel and hands-on training at Cowgirl Confident.
PREPARING FOR YOUR VISIT
What should I wear?
Cowgirl Confident programs are held outdoors on a working farm. We recommend wearing closed-toe shoes or boots, comfortable layered clothing appropriate for the weather. A hat and sunscreen are also recommended.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing rain gear, just in case as well as your bright smile. All event materials, including your participant binder and other registration items will be provided.
What happens if it rains?
Cowgirl Confident events are held rain or shine whenever conditions are safe. Many activities take place outdoors, so we encourage participants to dress appropriately and bring rain gear if the forecast calls for it.
After all, confident cowgirls work cattle in the rain!
In the event of severe weather that impacts participant safety, Cowgirl Confident will communicate any schedule changes as needed on our Cowgirl Confident Private and Public Facebook Pages.
Is lodging available nearby?
Yes. There are several hotes, cabins, vacation rentals and RV accommodations located within a short drive from Clayton Corner Farm. Visit our Lodging Recommendations page for suggested accommodations and booking links.
GENERAL QUESTIONS
Who can attend Cowgirl Confident events?
Cowgirl Confident events are open to anyone with an interest in learning about cattle and agriculture. Whether you’re new to the industry, an experienced producer or simply exploring cattle ownership, you’re welcome to attend.
While our events are designed to empower women in agriculture, men are welcome to attend as well, especially spouses, family members or partners who wish to learn alongside participants.
Participants under the age of 18 are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian. A liability will be required to be signed by the attendee’s parent or legal guardian.
Do I need previous cattle experience?
No. Previous cattle experience is not required.
Our programs are designed for all experience levels – from individuals who have never owned cattle to seasoned producers looking to expand their knowledge and sharpen their skills.
If you’re considering purchasing your first cattle, attending a Cowgirl Confident event is a great way to gain practical knowledge and confidence before making that investment.
What is included with registration?
Your registration to hands-on events includes 3 days of educational instruction, hands-on learning experiences and event materials designed to support your success before, during and after the program.
Registration includes:
- Educational presentations and hands-on demonstrations
- Interactive learning opportunities
- Cowgirl Confident participant binder with agenda, available handouts and event information
- Color bandana identifying your assigned learning group
- Feather arrangement for the Cowgirl Confident Feather Pinning Ceremony
- Cowgirl Confident drawstring backpack
- Lunches and refreshments
Optional Dinner: Evening dinners are not included with registration and may be purchased in advance for $25 when available. Selection is available during registration or reach out to Kim at (918) 752-7100.
Are meals provided?
Yes. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments are provided for most full-day and multi-day programs.
If a meal is provided, it will be noted in the event description. Please list any food allergies or dietary restrictions during registration so we can make every effort to accommodate your needs. While we work closely with our meal providers, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?
All registrations are final and non-refundable. Due to the planning, meals, materials and limited class sizes required for each event, we are unable to issue refunds for cancellations or no-shows.
If you are unable to attend, you may sell or transfer your registration to another participant. We recommend posting your available registration in the Cowgirl Confident Private Facebook Group to connect with interested attendees. An admin will review, confirm purchase and verify your post.
All registration transfers require completion of the official Cowgirl Confident Ticket Transfer Form. The transfer is not considered complete until the form is submitted and confirmed by our team. This ensures we have the correct participant information, emergency contacts, waivers and event communications.
INSTRUCTORS & PRESENTERS
How do I become a Cowgirl Confident instructor or presenter?
We are always looking for knowledgeable professionals who are passionate about educating and empowering others in agriculture. If you have expertise in livestock, veterinary medicine, ranch management, agricultural business or another agricultural field, we would love to hear from you.
Complete our Instructor Interest Form to tell us about your experience, areas of expertise and presentation topics. Our team reviews all submissions and will contact qualified applicants as opportunities become available.
What qualifications do instructors have?
Cowgirl Confident instructors are selected based on their professional experience, subject matter expertise and ability to provide practical, educational instruction. Our presenters include veterinarians, extension educators, university faculty, agricultural professionals, experienced producers and industry leaders.
When are instructor handouts and presentation materials due?
To ensure participant materials are prepared and available at each event, instructors are asked to submit all handouts, presentation materials and resource documents no later than 30 days prior to the event.
Materials received by the deadline will be included in participant binders when applicable and shipped to our approved Host Farms ahead of the event. Late submissions may not be included in printed materials but may be made avaiable within our online learning platform at cowgirlconfident.net.
If you’re unable to meet the deadline, please contact the Cowgirl Confident team as soon as possible.
TRAVEL & ARRIVAL
Where is the farm located?
Clayton Corner Farm is located at 52990 E 230 Rd Afton, OK 74331. Our farm is approximately:
- 1 hour from Tulsa International Airport
- 17 minutes from Grove, OK
- 22 minutes from Vinita, OK
- 19 minutes from Miami, OK
- 42 minutes from Joplin, MO
Which airport should I fly into?
We recommend flying into Tulsa International Airport (TUL), located approximately 1 hour form Clayton Corner Farm. It offers the greatest selection of airlines, flight schedules and rental car options.
Joplin Regional Airport (JLN) is also an option for travelers, however, flight availability is limited and schedules may be more restrictive.
When should I arrive?
We recommend arriving before registration opens. Our registration window is brief and events begin promptly.
Arriving early allows you time to park, check in, receive your event materials, find your assigned group, get seated for the opening presentation and participate in any welcome activities before the day’s program begins.
Please refer to your event agenda for the specific registration and start times.
Is parking available?
Yes. Parking is available on-site.
Upon arrival, please follow the directional signs from E 530 Road, cross the cattle guard and park as uniformly as possible. This helps maxmize parking space and allows participants who may need to leave early to exit more easily.
Please note that parking is in a pasture and weather conditions may result in muddy areas. If your vehicle become stuck, don’t worry – we have tractors available and will be happy to assist.
TRAINING & SAFETY
Will I work with live cattle?
Yes. Many Cowgirl Confident events include hands-on learning with live cattle. Participant safety and animal welfare are always our top priorities and all live animal activities are conducted under the guidance of experienced instructors.
The type and amount of live animal interaction may avary depending on the event and training topics.
Are simulators included?
Yes. Cowgirl Confident incorporates a variety of agricultural simulators to enhance the learning experience. Depending on the event, participants may train using our injection simulators, our venipuncture and epidural simulator, our calving and dystocia simulator and other educational tools.
Simulators allow participants to build confidence and practice techniques before working with live animals.
Is the training beginner friendly?
Absolutely. Our programs are designed for participants of all experience levels. Whether you’re new to cattle, considering purchasing your first herd, or an experienced producer looking to expand your knowledge, our instructors provide practical, hands-on education in a supportive learning environment.
Can I earn a certificate?
Yes. Cowgirl Confident offers certificates of completion for participants enrolled in designated Blended Learning programs.
To earn a certificate, participants must:
- Successfully complete all required online assignments.
- Achieve a minimum score of 80% on all required quizzes.
- Demonstrate mastery of the required hands-on skills before a licensed veterinarian or Extension specialist.
Certificate requirements vary by program and are outlined in the course description prior to registration.
Is this event worthwhile if I already have cattle experience?
Absolutely. Cowgirl Confident programs are designed to provide value for both new and experienced cattle owners.
Experienced participants often attend to refine existing skills, learn current best practices, explore new technologies and gain insights from veterinarians, extension specialists, industry professionals and fellow producers.
Every event offers opportunities to expand your knowledge, exchange ideas and build relationships with others who share a passion for agriculture. Whether you’ve owned cattle for six months or sixty years, there’s always something new to learn.
FARM POLICIES
Can I bring cattle or other livestock to Clayton Corner Farm to meet a buyer or complete a sale?
Yes, with prior approval.
Clayton Corner Farm may allow livestock to be brought onto the property for transfers or deliveries by permission only. To protect the health of our livestock and maintain biosecurity standards, all visitors must contact us in advance and follow our established guidelines before bringing animals onto the farm.
Please do not arrive with livestock without prior authorization.
Can I bring my dog or other pets?
No. Personal pets are not permitted during Cowgirl Confident events.
Because Clayton Corner Farm is a working livestock operation, only service animals, as defined by applicable law, are permitted on the property. If you require a service animal, please notify us before arrival so we can make appropriate accommodations.
May I take photos or videos during the event?
Yes! We encourage participants to caputure their experience and share it on social media.
Please be respectful of fellow participants and instructors and avoid disrupting presentations or demonstrations. Professional photography or videography for commercial purposes requires prior approval.
Can I leave early if needed?
Yes. We understand that unexpected situations arise.
If you need to leave before the event concludes, please notify a Cowgirl Confident team member before departing so we know you’ve left safely and can adjust any hands-on activities if necessary.
Can I bring a guest who is not registered?
No. All participants and guests must be registered prior to the event.
This policy helps us maintain accurate attendance records, prepare materials and meals and ensure that all individuals have completed the required waivers.
